alternator swap

Hi guys, just replaced alternator(bought rebuilt) on my f250*(2006)superduty...when i unplug battery after engine is started it stalls....cannot run on alternator alone....any suggestions

Get the alternator bench tested.

Take your alternator to any chain auto parts store and they will hook it up to their machine and test the output for you for free.

Thanks....and relays or fuses thatcould be making the alternator not charge or send current.??

You should never disconnect the battery on a modern vehicle to check the alternator integrity.

Also, the "I" circuit on the alternator needs battery voltage to switch the voltage regulator on or "excite" the charging process. Disconnect the battery and you no longer have voltage on the "I" circuit therefore no charging.
