So I have been dealing with this same problem for over a year now. Replaced the Tstat and just today replaced the water pump. Still no resolve. Puzzuled. The weird thing is just before the engine temp gauge rises the heater will stop heating and almost instantly the guage shoots up in the red. Shut her down for maybe 20 seconds and start it back up and the guage is normal and she runs fine. However at stop lights and idiling the heater will loose temp unless I idle it up. I suspect air trapped somewhere but i have tried everything I know to remove the air. I didnt have this problem until one day I did a coolant flush to remove the dirty coolant, ever since I have been having this issue. Help Please.

Hi bluetintman,
Welcome to FTE!
I'm going to split this off into it's own thread, this way we can focus on your problem and help you get to the bottom of it. I can say that I did a coolant flush on my Ex and have never had a problem with air, and I don't think it's likely that you still have air in the system after a year of driving.
