Let's see, trouble free......ah, no. All of the injectors have been replaced, head gaskets, radiator, on second turbo (replaced at 92k, so not that bad), alternator.......original water pump which is amazing to me. Hmmm, tranny is original. Crazy thing, this is a work truck. I pull 14-16K pound form trailers (concrete foundations forms) quite often, in fact, in 2004-2006, I worked 7 days a week. We had more crews than trucks, so I had to scoot trailers on the weekend to the guys' next job. Tranny is starting to slip a little, kinda of sad. : ( But, for a 6.0L, these miles are pretty impressive to me!
Still that's not a lot of work for that many miles. What is your maintenance routine?
Josh
Oil and EGR cooler was replaced at 270K I believe. Maintenance is tranny, transfer case, rear end fluid and filters have been replaced at 60K mile intervals using Amsoil products. Fuel filter is replaced at the same time. Oil.....well, lots are going to think I am nuts, but for 160K miles, I did 20K mile oil drain/5K mile oil filter. I was doing 55-60K a year and felt bad how often the oil was being changed. I am back to 10K mile oil/5K oil filter, since I am doing a little less driving these days. Still on track to do 45K this year. I have used Rotella T 5W-40 since 61K miles.
Thanks for posting! I always like to hear about long life 6.0's. If I have to replace a few parts to get 300,000 miles thats OK. And I think a lot of us on this site have followed Bismic's and others recommendations on maint intervals which should help even more. Much appreciated.
No problem, I gotta tell ya though, it's been crazy dependable for the most part. If anyone on here knew where I have been with this truck.......it's crazy. It runs 12-14 hours a day at a minimum, now 5 days a week. How much I have pulled with it is crazy to boot! Rotella T synthetic I think has played a big part.
