P2043 DEF

I had CEL the other week scanned and found P2043 Reductant Temp/Sensor range. Light came on first thing after a cold start. Wanted to know if anyone else had this and what they did to fix. Thanks

I am getting this same code... Have you figured out the issue? I took it in to the dealer, they didn't have a clue... No surprize there. They wanted to keep the truck overnight, which I'm not willing to do unless I absolutely have no choice. Every time it is reset, it comes back only after a cold start. Any ideas?

No, still not resolved. I was thinking of replacing the sensor but I did not find it on fordparts.com. Yeah only happens when its cold , or cold and off for more than 6 hours.

It looks like that sensor is a part of the reductant sender / heater assembly. Which I am sure is exactly what you wanted to hear.

See attached

Thanks

You know it brother.
3 months of having a new truck I could not drive was all I could take.
Been CEL free for almost exactly 2 years

I can tell you tho, every time I turn on cruise control and I see that orange light in the corner of my eye my blood pressure goes up 20 points!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had that happen to me once (now that I've had that beer, I thought about it). I hammered the crap out of the truck getting my trailer out of a muddy area after it had a chance to settle in all day (past the axles). I got it out, but also got that message. I put it back in 2wd, engaged/released the E-Lock on the diff a few times and the light went off and didn't come back on. That was 9k miles ago.

Don't delete the 4x4. That's actually useful.

Well that sux! I like your attitude about it tho.

Could it be something in the vacuum system for the hubs?

For sure Ron, I think that is what it is. The hubs have been acting up for a couple of months. They don't always lock but do sometimes. I would have to flip in and out of 4x4 a few times to get them to lock. The message came on when I was spinning like crazy cuz the hubs werent locked but should have been so I quess it know the front wheels are not spinning. Now the hubs will not aut lock at all. Savage is right, the message went away.

Not to further hijack this thread that I hope gets resolved for these guys......The hubs are manuall locked now and everything is fine. They will stay that way until spring, truck stays in 4x4 all winter anyway.

Thanks
