truck running rough during start when cold, runs rich, so I thought it might be the iac, could be, also thought it might be the O2 sensor...coded the system and recvd the error 51, my code book tells me it is the ECT sensor, it is out of range...this sensor is the water temp sensor in the manifold, $8.
How does that effect the start up of the engine and how it runs when cold? This little item, I thought was just a sensor for the temp gauge. Any ideas?
Thanks
The Ect is the computers sesnor. The computer doesn't care or monitor the gauge's sensor. Why? beats me, Ford could have save $8 by using only 1...LOL
As for how it runs. if it reading cold then you'll run in cold mode all the time (ie - really crappy gas mileage) If its reading hot, then you'll start and run really crappy when its cold because the computer wont go into 'cold' mode, it thinks the engine is already warmed.
