some may remember a post of mine a while back. I upgraded to single shot injectors early this summer. now my cold starts are great but I get strong white smoke for the first five or so seconds after starts. I'm changing out my up pipes this week which would mean easy access to injectors. I have one extra injector I can use if I can isolate one causing the smoke.
my two questions...
what's the chance it is in fact an injector causing the problem? buzz test and cylinder contribution test pass.
2nd question is how do I know which one to try changing. its such a minor issue I doubt I'll be able to see the diff based on oil spouts.
^^^^ Ditto on the glow plugs. The unburned fuel from even one or two cylinders will blow white smoke on startup, especially as the weather is getting colder.
Are hitting the key as soon as the wait to start light goes out ? If so wait another 15 sec or so then hit the key. The GP's stay on longer then the light. GP's can stay on up to two mins.
I will maybe get a video tomorrow. I have tested and all gps are great. I have ohmed them and also have gpcm so it would throw a code anyways. I do wait past wts light by 5 to ten but it's not that cold here. It does this on 40 degree nights. puff is more than a puff... It whites the right side of the garage on the wy out. Smell is diesel.
Shot in the dark... Could fuel bowl heater or cps be at fault.? I'm looking for any possible easy solutions.
That's what I thought... Since I had no smoke prior to the injectors, and I feel it is probably an injector but apparently there is no way of knowing which one if it's just barely not perfect.
