I have a 1975 F100 automatic with a 360. It has points and condensor in the distributer. I purchased the electronic ignition conversion that goes inside of the distributer. I was told on this forum that 1975 model trucks have the seven wire ignition control module and the wiring for my EI conversion is different. Well, my truck does not have the module. The wires and plugs are there, but, no module. Is it possible that the previous owner bypassed the module and it is no longer a factor when wiring my EI conversion.
DuraSpark Electronic Ignition introduced in 1974 FoMoCo vehicles, but not all came with it until 1976.
Most 1974/75 F100/350's with 360/390's did not come with DuraSpark.
The module used in 1974 is 1974 only / The module used in 1975 is 1975 only.
Modules ID by a colored plastic square above where the wires feed out.
1976 blue module also used in most 1977/79's, except some sold new in CA vehicles, use a POS red module and except some 1978/79's sold new in high altitudes, have a yellow module.
If it's using points, then the EI module would have been eliminated from the system. As I mentioned to you yesterday, I have never installed a Petronix and stand to be corrected, but my assumption is that in your case you can approach the installation of the Petronix as if your system never had EI (that is, as a straightforward points to petronix conversion).
