As of late I've read a few threads about trouble people are haning with there transmissions. The question I have is I've got a 1995 f250 with 124,000mi on a e4od trans. I've heard that if you don't change trans fluid every 50,000mi to just leave it,but I also read that you probebly could change with no ill effects. What is the best answer to this?? Thank you to all that chimes in
What's it physicaly look like and smell like? Id change it myself and probably either do a flush or torque converter change cause by just droping the pan will only yeild 5--6 quarts
When he says a Torque Converter change he is referring to the drain plug physically in the converter. Put a breakover bar and socket on the Harmonic balancer bolt and turn the motor until you see the drain plug in the converter. I can't remember if it is a 6 point or square drain plug so look the job over before starting as you may need and 8 point socket.
Transmissions are the most overlooked service item, people wonder
Why a trans repair bill is so high.
Try a 250.00 service once in a while.
I was reading an artical and it said the guy has taken a trans filter with 300,000mi and there wasn't any debris inside so he suggest just to flush the trans via the cooler line on the rear of the transmission. The artical is on this site by Mark Kovalsky in the drivetrain/transmission,axle section.
