C5 Trans. Fluid Change
I'm getting ready to change the filter & fluid in my transmission, and I remember seeing someone said that there was a way to drain the torque converter on some Ford transmissions. I checked my ever useful Chiltons, and it just says to drain the fluid out of the pan.
Can the torque converter be drained in a '86 C5 transmission? If it can, do I need to do anything special when I refill it?

Some of the torque converters have a drain , you just have to turn it until the drain plug is visible . As for refilling , the converter will be refilled by the trans pump when you start the engine , Check your vehicle specs for refill info so you have an adequate supply of trans fluid on hand .

Remove the dust cover from the front of the transmission, turn the engine until the plug is exposed and drain the torque convertor. The best method to change fluid is probably to vacuum evacuate your system, then drop the pan and change the filter.
