96 7.3l E4od 4x4. Doing an oil pan replacement and I'm getting stuck. I have done some research before I started and have been told that I don't need to remove the engine or turbo or tranny, just jack up the motor off the crank pulley after removing the motor mount nuts and there should be enough clearance. There isn't... The turbo hits the firewall, the pan hits the flexplate, I'm lost. Before I try to pull the turbo or separate the tranny, any ideas? I'd rather not pull the motor if possible and I can't get enough clearance to unbolt the oil screen.
Either pull the motor or cut the cross member out of the way.
Unless you are a hard-core fabricator with mad welding skills, the motor must come out.
Edit: I have also heard that you can pull turbo and unbolt the body and jack it up out of the way.
But by god, if you are going that far just spend the 3 or 4 hrs and put the motor on a stand. You'll do a much better job replacing the pan and getting it to seal.
