On my 73 f100 4x2 the radius arms look to be forged just like the i-beams. My 76 f250 4x2 parts truck has what looks to be stamped arms. I picked up the f250 for the motor, trans and rear end but I figured I might as well swap the suspension too. Are there a strength difference in the arms? "IF" my 73's are better strength wise, will they fit on the 250 i-beams? Or am I really just wasting my time trying to swap all this stuff.
Side note. After I took the 250 suspension apart and cleaned up the springs I stood them next to each other and realized on is about half an inch shorter, less coils, the coils are thicker, and the over all diameter of the spring is wider. It is close, but still noticeable side by side. I am thinking either ford did this to compensate for weight being off center, or most likely a past owner swapped them. Am I right in saying that the springs should be identical?
No, the springs aren't identical. They are right and left specific.
I believe the left side is heavier to compensate for the driver always being in the truck while the right seat is often empty.
