77-79 Ford

I asked this over on the Utah board, but I am anxious to get an answer from someone. Can anyone tell me what years did Ford make 4 wheel drive fully boxed front ends? One other question does anyone know what a used 460 is worth? This one is out of a 71 lincoln. I belive it has 365 horses and 500 pounds of torque. Correct me if I am wrong. I have just discovered this board. I have read pages and pages which I am sucking all in. Thanks in advance.

if you mean the solid case front end they made that up to 79. After that they went to the independent suspension front end piece of crap. except in the 1 ton they are still solid case.
As for the 460 that depends in what part of the country you are in. Here in Ks it would be worth 350.00 to 450.00

Between the front frame horns? I believe that idea went away with the HB design in mid 77.

Unless I am really confused about this boxed question. Can we have a little more description information as to what you are calling boxed.

That is the high boy frame that was discontinued after '77 1/2 F250.

Welcome to the FTE boards. I never worry about hanging out in the UT board. Just here mostly lots of very knowledgeable and helpful folks which have made a ton of difference with my F-150.

LDS: "Ye may not know the truth of all things" .. if the 460 info is wrong.

Did you remove the 460 from a 1971 Lincoln yourself, or did someone tell you that's what it's from? If you did remove it yourself, how do you know after years 41 have passed by, if it was the original engine?

D1VE-6059-AB = Block casting number: 1971/73 429 - 1971/78 460 and some 1979 460's. 429/460: The block and bore is the same, the stroke is different. So, is it a 429 or a 460?

429: 1968/73 Ford/Thunderbird/Merc Passenger Cars // 460: 1968/78 Lincoln/Continental Mark III/IV/V / 1972/76 Thunderbird / 1973/78 Ford/Merc Passenger Cars / 1973/79 F100/350 / 1975/97 E250/350 / 1983/97 F250/350.

High Boy: 1967/76 F250 4WD, 1977 F250 4WD assembled before serial number Y20,001 (February 1977). Have a divorced transfer case.

1977 F250 4WD's assembled from serial number Y20,001 are not High Boys, have a married transfer case, as do 1978/79 F250 4WD's.

77.5 and up are C channeled from front bumper to the front of the moter mounts perches and then right behind that they open up, all the way back.

I'm pretty sure they did not BOX the whole frame at the factory on these ol things??

ND chime in here any time, ya ol pro, cause I know you will know for sure.

we want to know if the frame that was boxed from the bumper to the back of the motor mounts except for a few inches 3-4 maybe at the front for leaf spring mounts not the hi boy style that has motor area boxed and front foot or so c channel i know they are on the 79s but i have one claimed to be a 77 with that same frame so did they make them from 77-79 or just 79? and did any of the "high boys" have the same frames as the 79 boxed? hopefully ND can help us? thanz again for the help
