A&E Test Done.. need advice please

First of all.. my truck runs really rough when cold and has no power.
already changed injector o-rings, icp, and rebuild ipr. Got new oil, and all filter.
New GPR as well

Now:
i had my PCM re-flashed yesterday at the Ford Dealer, so the A & E Software works.(my truck is a late 95).
Ford Dealer said, my idm throws an error and is bad..

Today we connected with the A&E Software.

Did Buzz-test and first test, 4 cylinders did not buzz and had an idm error. did a second test, just to make sure and only #3 did not buzz.

We changed the IDM with a newer one from a 97 4x4 F250, just to test.
Now #3 did not fire right.
cranked the truck (ran better) went on test drive.

HPOP at idle is at 567
at wot it holds steady between 2500 and 2470.

exhaust back pressure is 17 at idle, tops out at 35 at wot
manifold pressure is 16 at idle and 30 at wot.

The CCT test came back with P0266 (cylinder fault #2) and P0272 (cylinder fault #4)

did a Buzz test, once we stopped and all cylinders were fine.
Installed my old IDM, all injectors buzzed, but still get IDM failure.

Please advise on all data and what to replace .
btw.. i was thinking of replacing the uvch.

If you had 4 injectors not buzz, check from the injectors back.

So you'll have to pull the valve covers and inspect wiring and harnesses.

Solenoids RARELY go bad.

It is possible you have a bad IDM, but i'ma bet you having some wiring issues first.

when i did my injector o-rings 200mls ago, , the harness looked good. only thing was , that the locking tabs on 3 connectors of the engine harness were broke. thats, while i want to replace it.
The odd thing is, that on the second buzz test, only #3 failed and i was getting an idm failure. Ford showed the same failure. A friends IDM showed fine, but #3 onlyy fired after warm..
could a bad harness give mme an idm failure on one idm , but not another ?

btw, i also noticed a slight skip lately, but did not show up, when running the friends ism.. also his idm was a 120v, mine is a 100

Was the ones that didn't buzz on the same side or was it different ones on both sides?

2,3,5,6 did not buzz on first test. second test, about 5 min later, truck still cold, only #3 did not buzz. 1 hr later, truck still cold, different idm , #3 did not buzz, another hour later, truck warm, all buzz, swapped idm to old idm, all buzzed. CCT results were done right before the buzz test, when truck was warm

just went outside, kinda chilly, started truck, with old IDM:

started and died right away twice, then started and run, but you had to give it gas to keep it running for a couple seconds, then run in idle, but you could feel a miss...

btw, truck seems to run fine when warm.. no smoke and i also do not use any oil.. (just leak out some :-) )

Here is how I'd approach this.

Remove IDM.

Hold in air with both hands and shake.
listen for water.

No water?

Put back in truck.

Remove VC's and all harnesses.
Take inside where comfortable and inspect with a good light.
Check every pin.

Are you still missing solenoid clips?
I'll send you some if your missing a few.

Solenoids Rarely go bad. They usually only go bad when the owner hits them with the wrong hammer while installing them.
AKA, broke.

No bad pins?
Everything checks out?

if everything checks out at that point.
Re-do the test while cold and check results.

If your still having the issue, then you probably have a bad IDM.

But if the truck is starting while cold, I'm sure they are all firing.

When you do the test the second time, run it with the VC's off and have somebody else start the test while you watch inside the motor and listen.

Sometimes they are really quiet.

What is most likely happening here is that you have stuck poppets.
The cold oil isn't letting them free travel as easily due to wear, so the buzz is so quiet that you cannot hear it.

IDM's don't much care if the truck is cold or not.

The 120volt IDM will actuate the injectors a bit harder than the 90 volt you have.

So, if you were getting less fails with your friends 120volt IDM, its cause you have poppets sticking.

Now, here is my disclaimer. I wont be responsible if you try this. Got it?
Good.

I've done this and am not afraid to do this though others here are.

Run a can of SeaFoam in your crankcase.

Yep.
Seafoam.

Pour it in and run it for a few hundred miles and change the oil.

If its sticking because of carbon build up, it will clean them out.

I agree with Talyn use a can of Seafoam or Marvel Mystery Oil. Both are very good at cleaning injectors.

What Talyn stated is 100 % ... Definitily do that first ....Seafoam is really good stuff .....But another issue could just be worn out injectors.... I would also get a 140 V Idm or at least a SuperDuty one just because..... How old is your ICP ? They are cheap ....I paid 75 bucks for a Ford one on ebay and about 90 for a genuine International one also on ebay ....

Thanks, talyn.THAT is what I was getting at. That is exactly how it should be done. ALSO check the glow plugs while you are in there.

thanks guys for the advice.

ICP is new.

when i had the idm out, i opened it up and inspected all connectors and looked for burned connections / bad solder points (with a magnifying glass) obvious smell.. all looked good.

when i did the injector o-rings less than 500 mls ago , i also checked the glow plugs. harness looked good , but all connectors were oily inside.
on 3 out of 4 engine harness plugs, that connect to the uvch, the locking tabs are broke. The whole harness, injectors, glow plugs all ohmed out good. I do want to replace the uvch and the pick tails on the engine harness just to eliminate the harness and fix one of my oil leaks.

question: would a bad harness give me a idm error , but only on one idm and not the newer one i tried ?

IDM's do funny chit when they flip out...I would just get a ebay SperDuty 120v for the lowest price or go to a Junkyard and rool the dice.... I would not buy the cheapest kit....I bought from these guys before 7.3 Power Stroke diesel glow plug related parts....Also I would definitly fix the external clips too....
