Lucas, a decent 6" with either the sticky pad or hookit pad will serve you well. If it's a one time gig, there's no need to spend a ton of money on your sander but if you plan on using it over the years, the Hutchins brand can't be beat. Eastwood carries them for a decent price on their website.

Heck, I just bought a cheap one from Harbor Freight for my project. Figured I'd only really use it for one project and with their service plan, if it goes bad I'll just bring it back get a new one and keep going. So far it works great. But, I agree if you want one to last get a better one.

+1 on Dynabrade, I only need one and I use it on clear coat before polishing 3/32"nd movement with 1500/3000 discs. The body work I do all by hand or manual block.
Harbor and freight has a lot o "crap" there and that's exactly what it is. After about 4 visits there I never will return to them for anything.Even their consumables are a joke. I got a pack of 3"x1/8" grinding discs and compared those to the 3M greencorps 3"x1/8" discs, 3M lasted 5 times longer.

Not to derail this thread but anything from Harbor Freight will break or stop running, its only a matter of time. While everyone can't or won't shell out bigger money for a high quality tool the aggravation of constantly returning something makes the better tools the better bargain in the long run---for me anyway.

I'm a bit of a tool snob but have some tools 20 years and older still running perfectly after all this time and use. Apart from me damaging them during use they're easily repairable, parts still readily available----nothing beats that kind of life!!

Dynabrade is definitely a great tool---is National Detroit still a good name in DA sanders?
