what am I missing with the upper ball joint adjustment cam?

what am I missing with the upper ball joint adjustment cam?
I replaced the ball joints following the guides all over this site including - Guide To Replacing Balljoints On Ford E150 Econoline Vans .: Articles . They all say to mark the upper ball joint adjustment cam. I did but I don't see how it goes in any other way. The tab with the notch for the retention bolt keys it to go in only one way. The only thing I can get wrong is to use the adjustment cam from the other side. What am I missing?

The position of the tab in the notch gives you two degrees of adjustment. Its a very small amount of room, but when amplified out to the end of the spindle and into the tire it adds up.
