K&N question
OK- yes I am stupid and threw away the box- I installed a K&N about 9 months ago in my 2001 Superduty. I want to check it before I head out on the road this weekend pulling the trailer.
What am I looking for?? How do I know if it needs more oil and what kind of oil? Thanks

K&N question
Of course the usual visual inspection, a very dirty clogged filter is usually obvious.
I almost always (especially for a long trip) use the K&N cleaner and lightly re-oil.. did I say lightly... with K&N and Ford MAF less is better!!
I prefer to slowly clean (with the K&N cleaner) from the inside so all the crap is flushed OUT the way it came in.
Never use and AIR preasure greater than 3-5 psi and also from inside only.
I do not recommend air preasure as the fibers of a K&N are VERY easy to perferate and then you have ruined a damn good filter.

K&N question
20,000 miles on my FIPK and filter and it still has it's factory oiling. I haven't been on many dusty roads, so I haven't picked up too much dirt. I'm planning on the first cleaning this summer.

K&N question
U ought to try living in this desert. Every year I do it and thats usually after the spring dust bowls. Matter of fact did it last weekend. I let it dry overnight. If u do that I think u can tell that its dry just by looking at it. Got a Granatelli MAFS and never had a problem!
