If spending a lot of time and money to ruin a perfectly good engine is cool, have at it.
I don't think it would take a lot of time or money.
Guys have spent ??? $ to swap in sketchy 30 year old engines, so what do you consider "waste"?
For some people, the only interest is production: as in, they use it as a work truck, and use it daily.
For others, it's a project, as in a display of accomplishment. Nothing short of an art.
I can assure you, there are plenty of trucks that might fall short on being "usefull", but exhibit an amazing amount of skill and dedication.
If that isn't art, I don't know what is.
I'll tell you right now, I wouldn't be embarrassed to own the worlds only 7.3 2 stroke, even if it only make 60 HP.
2 strokes might be almost abandoned, but in 3rd world countries, where they use them everywhere, they are developing aftermarket direct injection systems for them .
Like I said, it's your time and money to waste. You will end up with an unusable lump, if it runs at all. Why not just defecate on the sidewalk--as much of a work of art as this will be.
