Hey guys trying to solve the rough idle issues. I'm going to be doing a tune as I'm not sure when the last time the plugs have been changed... wish me luck!
Here is a basic list thus far:
- 8 plugs
- 8 COP boots
- PCV
- IAC valve
- Oil filter/fluid change
- Air filter
- Check coolant
- Transmission fluid/filter change
- Front/rear diff fluid
- Transfer case fluid
* would like to change the power steering and brake line fluid but probably won't get to that
I'm noticing a rough idle but it doesn't seem to effect drive ability at all (no misses), only when idling. It's really annoying.
Also I'm getting a pretty loud knocking way down low. I don't think it's the typical piston knock that some have experienced... i hope it's not something bad. But again i only really hear that at idle as well.
Lastly I have the exhaust manifold gasket leaking. I was wondering do shorty headers make a difference? If I'm going to to replace the gasket might as well upgrade! I already have a flow master cat back.
clean maf with maf cleaner, fuel filter, and might as well change the upstream 02 sensors when you fix the exhaust leak, shorty headers will make little difference, I only noticed a very little more pull in the upper rpms only, thats what it seems like anyway

Did the shorties give you a bit more noise? The 50 series is pretty quite for my taste.
Not really, at idle they sounded like stock manifolds, at the upper rpms you could hear them alittle, here is my mod link, headers and catback gibson super truck https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...-possible.html
