I say pop the side panel in the upper part of the back and see. Also there needs to be a notch in the back panel for the motor to come out. I think yhe frame is bolt in.
I like them not able to open. I had a Expedition that had them, and I never opened them.
Without them, there is less to go wrong, and having two large dogs that travel back there, was always worried that they would blow the latch on the Expedition if it was opened.
Do you know how it fell out, bumpy road, wind grab it?
it was sitting in the driveway on a mid 60s day and i came out and it was hanging down the side of the truck. the vent window is only held in place at 3 points and all of them are with adhesive. it was either improperly replaced at one time or bad batch from the factory. the glass repair shop that did it said he has fixed a few.
i ended up putting a fixed window in so i never had to worry about it again. but then i sold that Ex so far so good with my 2002's vent windows and i do use them alittle. but i still dont trust them!
the excursion widow does not have any pins/bolts holding it in like the expeditions. this is a design flaw IMO with a much bigger window being held on with 3 pads verses a bolt going through it.
apparently you cant reattach the window to the mounts, unless you want it to end up falling out again. so you have to buy a new window from ford(could not find a aftermarket one) as it comes with the attachment points at a high cost. funny thing the fixed window is alittle more expensive then the vent window. but it bolts in solid with prolly 50-70 studs/nuts.
Lot's of people have had those windows come out and they are expensive. I never use mine and I wish they never came up with that idea. I'm afraid to open mine while on the road.
