first off i am getting ready to put head studs in. do i need to pull the heads in order to put them in? or can i do it one at a time and go that route? second is when i get my new vavle springs how do i know what shims i need? the .015 or the .030? and the push rods what thickness would i need the .083 or the .120? to give yall a lil insight to what i am doing. i am getting a whole new turbo system and some 250/200 injectors. so i am wanting to help the top end to stay together when i get on it. thank you for your help
Studs can be put in one at a time. A "seasoned" head gasket is preferable in most cases, unless you are replacing them anyway with a motor that is torn down.
Technically to get the proper shim you need a valve height micrometer and an assortment of shims.
For pushrods, it's your call really. It depends on your seat pressure you set with your shims on the valves, but both will likely be strong enough. Some like to think of the pushrods as a "fuse" of sorts by making them the weak link.
