I have noticed that guys that have radiator issues, keep having radiator issues.

That makes me thing that something else causes the failure, and it's not just as simple as being a crappy radiator.

Mine is 2008 with 100,000 + km's and no rad issues yet.

same here. I have my original as well. I did have to replace the upper hose down in Florida summer before last but never let the coolant get low on the way there. Was towing the 5er too. Just checked it at every fillup and kept it full.

So I would be curious if these failures were combined with the need for coolant as well and how much and how often.

I also had the upper hose replaced, it was leaking slowly on engine and disappearing.
One thing I know, is that the cooling systems on these are really finicky, to the point that it barely follows the rules of physics haha.

Some old diesel mechanic told me: 2 biggest causes of diesel engine retirement; catastrophic failure, and cooling system issues.

Replaced upper rad house. Caught the leak extremely early. Most likely the same day it started.

I have 63,000 miles/102,000 kms on a very early Job 1 2008. I have had no issues with rad or hoses. When I had a cab off repair last year for an oil leak, I upgraded the early thermostat as I believe some of the rad problems may come from the early thermostats. I will now replace the early rad cap to ensure the rad pressure stays at about 16PSI.

56,000 miles on an early 08, no radiator problems. I bought mine with 4000 miles on it but the original owner said he had the recall for the TSB on the hose done when truck had just a few hundred miles on it.

43K on my '10 with no issues

Can you modify the poll to include a 'no' for each year?

I dont know how to change it, but I like it the way it is. I think we are all only concerned with the outcome of ones that have been changed.....
