I am in the middle of doing the thermostat when I came across a sensor that was unplugged.
Looks to be the cold start temp switch.
It is right behind the water outlet neck. Has 2 pins
I would say this should be plugged in. Doesn't look like it has been plugged in for a long time >.>
Any way to test to make sure the sensor works by a meter? I would rather not have to tare this all back apart after doing the thermostat if I don't need to.
Just verifying continuity doesn't mean its good though. It should have continuity when cold and then be open when the engine heats up. Mine failed in the closed position, so my high idle and cold advance was active all the time. It could be that it got pulled off when working on something else, or it could have been disconnected because it failed. I believe you can get to it with the thermostat housing in place, so if you hook it up and find that it is bad you are able to replace it fairly easily. You would just have to drain some of the coolant before removing the sensor.
