Yellow Lives Again!!

I finally got my 51' flathead running last night. Thanks to 1952henry's carb building, another set of eyes, and a lot of patients.
Now I have got to find a radiator. Mine is shot!

Thoughts?

Once I can keep water in it haha OH and figure the fan out... It locked up on me, and I figured I'd just replace the bearing(s)... There's nothing in it? Haha I'm lost

Well, most people learn about about the oil-filled fan hub assembly on the Flathead the hard way. If they don't have oil in them it will powder everything up including the impeller, shaft and everything else inside the hub.

C&G has a new 21A-8603 compatbile assebly you can use (They have a made up number of 21A-8604 for some odd reason)

Ok new issue, got it running but it's extremely rich. Power valve did pop, so we put in a block off for now. When it starts it will only run w the choke closed. If you open it it runs smooth for a second, then fades and dies. There is a bit of back fireing but the plugs are foweling so I assume that's the reason.
Also if the distributor is not turned as far counter clockwise as possible it will not start.

We are still playing around w it but I thought I'd ask for some extra insight as well.

(Dumb question) where should the rise on th distributor shaft be at tdc? On mine it's just past 1, almost between 1/7.

Wait... I'll double check the positions tonight. Either way my understanding (minimal at best) is that with 0 advance the #1 should fire at tdc...

And I know it shouldn't be different if it ran before and I haven't removed the distributor. But honestly I can't remember now if I pulled it or not. Just double checking everything.

That same unfiltered five year old gas that let particles get hung up in the needle valve has probably found its way into the small passages in the carb body.
