OK, got the old radiator out, took of the engine fan running in the wrong rotation, got the new radiator in, Now the fun starts.
There is only 7 1/2" between the center of the water pulley and the lower radiator hose, so that restricts engine fan(a new one turning in the right direction) to 14" diameter at the most. Figured that won't do the job, so investigated an electric primary fan. Problem is the water pump pulley is only 3" from the radiator, so electric fan can only be 2 1/2" inches thick at the most.
According to Summit Racing nobody makes a fan big enough for a V8 that is that thin.
Right now I'm stumped as the best thing to do. Can't move the radiator more forward without major surgery on the front end stuff, don't know if there's a 302 water pump that is shorter(expensive option).
Right now, I just buttoned everything up, put away the tools, and went back into house for heavy thinking.
A pusher fan in front is an option, but I'm concerned that a pusher would move enough air. The Summit guy said they only do about 75% of rating as a pusher. May have to do that tho, there's tons of space in front.
Ouch, sorry for the setback. What about two smaller electric fans, say one mounted top left and the other on the bottom right of the radiator. I've seen setups like that, so the thickest point of each fan wouldn't be right smack in the middle where the water pump is, instead they sort of straddle the pump. Just a thought.

Thanks, Jim
I have seen the shorter shaft water pumps listed a while back and can`t remember where.
I`m curious as to the price, anyone have an idea?
Latest is I'm trying a 16" fan from flexalite that is only 1 1/2" thick in the area outside the fan motor, so I can place it with the motor above the water pump pulley, and the outer part of the fan in front of the pulley. And since this fan is not strong enough by itself, am putting a smaller "pusher" in front. I'm rigging the puller up with a temperature switch, and the pusher with a manual switch. So, will pickup the parts tomorrow, and see if this will all fit.
Thanks for the thoughts and suggestions, this might not be over yet.
Also, didn't realize it before but discovered today the PO had rigged up a tranny cooler below the panel in front of the bottom of the radiator, it is a passive cooler (no fan) so can't believe it cools enough. I'm going back into the radiator, so hopefully it'll be better for the tranny.
Incidentally, I'm planning to double flare the cooler lines like brake lines, based on assumption that this'll contain the oil better.
Jim...I bought a new Granada one time with a 302. It had a 2 blade fan!!! A 14" fan, correctly spaced and a shroud might cool it. Just a thought....Rod
