I know how to time the engine, I was rebuilding my dizzy and the plastic bushings for the weights broke, can't find them anywhere. Need to buy a whole new dizzy and was trying to figure out which gear I have before I went to the parts house. Been a long time since I worked on an older engine. Thanks for the input.. BB
Nobody said billit gears, all parts manuals specify steel or cast gears as they do not interchange. Both were available for the '75 model year. As for shiny I should have said glossy, the steel gear is dark in color but smooth instead of rough looking like cast. After cleaning my gear and comparing it with both at the parts store, it matched the cast gear. As for the magnetic part, a magnet sticks to both. Thanks for the help. BB
have you ever taken a magnet to the side of your engine block?? yeah, not gonna stick, nor will it stick to any other cast iron
You need to go back to science class there, bud.
Hey look. It's a cast iron block on a stand and there's a magnet stuck to it.
Sorry to be sarcastic but you're way off. Magnets stick to ferrous metals. Ferrous means that they are derived from the element Iron with the symbol Fe which comes from the Latin word ferrum, meaning iron. The reason they stick to steel is because it is made mostly of iron with some carbon added.
