Pushing 55,000 miles and decided to test my cap and coolant system...

Borrowed a tester from O'reilly. Cap goes to 16 then slowly leaks down to 7 over a 60 second time frame.

Threaded adapter won't thread onto degas bottle but the male and female adapters thread together fine so I'm not quite sure what's going on there.

The orielly kit fit mine. it came with the base kit and then there was a separate kit with two adapters, you need them. If they have a little loaner tool place mat on the counter look down at that and see if thy list the second adapter kit.

That's what I got.

It's the "Threaded cap" adapter kit.

The cap fits the male adapter and holds some pressure. The female adapter doesn't thread onto the degas bottle. It starts, gets about 1 full turn then tightens up but the seal isn't complete. Was worried about cross threading or damaging the degas bottle.

The male and female adapters in the kit fit together just fine.

Hmmmm, it fit mine just fine. I get the worry about cross threading but I think I'd give it another try with a bit more muscle. I think mine was also a bit stiff going on. Maybe put a shot of WD on the top adapter.

I was actually outside trying as you posted this... I put a good amount of force to it and barely got it tight enough to allow the rubber washer to touch the lip of the degas bottle. Still wouldn't hold more than 5-6 psi though. Might see about getting an extra washer or two to take up the space. Not sure if multiple washers would hold the pressure though.

That's wierd, it sounds like the same kit I used and mine was a piece of cake. it's gotta be the same kit, two adapters red in color I think, one male one female. I got no idea.
