'04 Heated Seat - Switch - Help Request

First let me begin with a thank you. While searching the internet for a hint on a problem I was having with the radio staying on, I stumbled onto a thread in this forum that provided the answer to a really challenging problem. Thanks to very helpful people (to someone else's inquiry) the problem was pinpointed to that purple wire under the sill - ridiculous that this happens.

Any ways, new problem and completely frustrated. Today when I got intothe vechile and started it up I notcied the LEDs on the driver heated seat switch flashing. All attempts to play with the switch failed to clear the problem. So did disconnecting the battery to clear any computer glitches. Interestingly enough, the flashing LED issue goes away and the seats heat up normally when the head lights are OFF. If they are turned ON, this silly fault occurs.

Looking at another thread on a similar subject I came across the wiring schematic but cannot seem to find any common elements between the headlight switch and the heated seats circuit to suggest where I should begin troubleshooting.

I was hoping it was all related to that wiring harness that gets soaked under the rear driverside sill but apparently not. Any thoughts???

Thank you

My guess would be an illumination wire. Does the switch light up when the headlights are turned on to help find the switch in the dark?

Yes, the seat symbol illuminates with the headights. The odd thing is the two LEDs to signify high and low, they blink but with what I'd almost suggest is a repeating pattern i.e. quick flashes and a pause.

Initially I persumed a short somewhere and with that ridicuous water issue in the sill, I woudn't be surprised if something similar is occurring else where but this flashing pattern has me puzzled. Hence no idea where to begin looking? Could it be as simple as a defective switch? Again, the fashing LEDs is what's throughing me off.

Thanks for any assistance.

The flashing LEDs could be flashing a two digit code by flashing a # of times for the first digit and the pause and then flashing a # of times for the second code. Put the two numbers together and search for that code on-line. Fords designs their airbag light diagnostics in this manner.

Thanks for that.

I kind of suspected the sequence was a form of code as there seems to be a pattern. Just surprised they'd use the heated seat switch LED for this purpose. But I did manage to count out a repetitive pattern. Just have to go back and write it down as it was very quick; not like to old Check Engine fashing light you find on most cars that was fairly easy to count.
