STICKY LIFTER!!!
Hey guys, ive been struggling to get rid of the sticky lifter tapping noise in my 79 f100 for awhile now and have tryed some different additives including seafoam and it continues to tap. I would appreciate any suggestions and recommandations from you guys who had the same problem. Thanks. also the motor is a 302 just incase it matters.

My suggestion is to remove the valve cover and check everything. It could be anything from a bent pushrod, possible broken/loose rocker arm. If it is the lifter, more than likely it'll have to be replaced. The lifter could have a broken spring inside to cause it to seem like sticking or too much of "varnish" build-up on the walls of the lifter. If you have to replace it, I recommend replacing all of them at the same time. If you replace just one, it's only a matter of time another then another then another could possibly go out next. Like I said check the arm and pushrod first. Hope this helps. BB
