Water Pump replacement..

My truck has used a little water over the last year or so.
Like about a quart of water every three or four months.

It never has leaked any spots where ever i have parked. i did notice that it looked a little discolored on the bottom of the pump but it felt fine.

Today i was at a stop light and had a very strong smell of diesel.
I got home to check under the hood for a fuel leak. Nothing found and nothing wet.

as the motor was running i saw that the fan was moving in and out about 3/8s of an inch. I shut the motor off and grabbed the fan. it has more than a half inch play up and down.

I caught this just in time not to do damage to the radiator.
It's Still not leaking..

So should i get an OEM water pump or is there something else that is better out there.

i'll order it from Clay.. I could get it from ford but i would rather help my brothers.

I have been wanting to do the flush and i am now glad i never did it.
I guess i should do the duel alt hose and neck while im at it..

Even with my water pump death row, I would still go OEM. They hold up pretty well and all others are a crap shoot.

Good catch.
I don't think you can do better than Motorcraft and Clay's price. I had to replace a two month old Dayco belt after I did water pump and hoses, VERY glad I did the wrap around hose. I also took advantage of the pump out of the way and did a flush and change to ELC. At least the cooling system is good for a while.

Also consider a coolant filter. I just put mine on and am glad I did! Plus it pretties up the engine bay a little.

Im surprised on how far it's walking in and out and not leaking. I took the DP tuner head off so the girlfriend will not try and drive it to work. sometimes she takes the truck to work.
Im glad i checked for that fuel smell asap before the fan came apart and went through the radiator

Just waiting on that yellow taped box this week

I like to think about it as breaking you half as much as the dealer for the same quality parts, lol.

Thank you for your order, we appreciate it.

Today i got a chance to get started on the removal. Got to do the Block/backplug backslide. I did good on the drivers side and scooted out of the way but the one above the starter got me..
Gotta love the taste of antifreeze..

Had a little kiddy pool and caught about 95% of the antifreeze.

I just replaced my water pump 2 weeks ago with an OE from Clay. Very happy with the product and the install wasn't as bad as I expected.
