please help

I have a 1999 F-250 with a V-10
The problem I am having is the PCM fuse has failed. This happened while I was driving. I noticed that the volt meter went to zero and then the truck died.
Since the pcm and the fuel pump share a circuit I have eliminated the possibility of the fuel pump causing the problem. After replacing the fuse, as soon as I turn the key to on it fails again
Is it possible that the pcm is bad?

Yes, it is possible. It is much more likely that there is a short in the wiring to the PCM.

Is there a way to determine if its the pcm or a short?

If you know your way around a DVOM you can check the wiring harness for problems. If it is fine then it probably is the PCM. If you don't have the right tools or knowledge it is probably best to pay a good independent shop to find and fix the problem for you.

It is possible the PCM is bad. Like Mark said, there could be short in the harness.

He's in NY. If you both have auto or stick transmissions it may work.

Probably the easiest way to diagnose this is to start unplugging things. Disconnect the harness from the PCM and see if the fuse still blows

If it doesn't that doesn't mean the PCM is necessarily bad, but if it still blows with the PCM out of the loop, that does narrow it down a lot.
