Radiator/engine flush-slowly

T-stat has not let go. I am hoping to re-use it, but that is looking doubtful since i have not gotten it loose. Mainly want to protect area around t-stat from damage.
I have pried in it with a screw driver and pulled on it firmly with pliers, no movement.
Suggestions welcome.

EDIT: Forget about saving the t-stat. I want it out so i can move on.
Lost daylight, this project is for tomorrow.

Claw hammer and pull it like a nail?

Or, give it a good smack with a hammer to pop it out.

Probably got a french fry stuck in it.

I have had them stick in there pretty good. Hopefully some gentle taps with a hammer will persuade it to come out. If not, some less than gentle taps oughta do it!! Its just the rubber gasket/seal thingy that is stuck to the water pump - it shouldn't be welded toooo bad...

I am going to try locking grip pliers to it and rocking/pulling. If that does not work i will try the hammer.

Grip pliers, then hammer, then screw driver as pry bar , i got it out . I thought the screw driver was going to bend at first using it as a pry bar. Moving on with the project .

I am going to attach the garden hose flush kit to the T-stat housing since the Gooch info thread offers that as an option (between the 7th & 8th picture). https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/9...formation.html
Easier location since it is apart.

I like having spare stuff around the house for what if's. I keep a spare jug of standard coolant at home to top-off. I am planning to keep a spare jug of the diesel coolant instead. Can the diesel coolant be used in gasoline engines?
