Sensors

In everyone's opinion, who makes better coolant temperature sensors...BWD or Duralast?

I don't know which is better, but it seems that all aftermarket senders read hotter than a good factory unit. Even after replacing the sender, you can't completely trust the reading.

I personally would not waste any money getting the factory gauge to work. Aftermarket gauges with real numbers are the way to go.

P.S. I should have skipped by your thread since I did not add any useful info to your original question, but I already did it, sorry.

Even so, he might be asking about the coolant temperature sensor that feeds information to the engine control computer found on many/most 85-86 Ford trucks.

I would try to buy Motorcraft, but after that Bosch and then Borg Warner.

And, even though I agree that aftermarket gauges with #'s are good, very good in fact, I still want my factory gauges to work. The locations available for mounting the aftermarket gauges don't make it easy to read them, so I watch the factory gauges while I'm driving and then check the others if there is a question.

And, given what could happen if the sender went bad, especially if you don't have other gauges, I'd go to Ford and get one of theirs. I lost an engine due to a bad sender once, and I don't want to do it again.

BWD is i well respected national brand, duralast is autozone's house brand. i know my experiences with oreilly's house brands, and find myself less than impressed (to say the least).

OP, it might help if you tossed out a little more info about what you're hoping to do/get
