had some work done on my 2005 expedition and the mechanic forgot to reset the service engine light. i called and he said it would reset itself with a few drives
i want to reset it myself and dont want to be bothered going back to the mecchanic; and through my reading i found you can do so by either removing the neg battery terminal for 10 min or pulling the KAM fuse for 15 min. I would like to pull the KAM fuse but dont know which one it is.
Is the fuse panel on the passenger side, in the cab?
is the relevant fuse/relay, relay #5 which is a 7.5amp rating and controls the "powertrain control module (PCM) (KA power)". Is this the one to pull?
Also, I dont seem to have info on the radio reset code if I do pull the neg terminal. What I do have is the permanent access code to the keyless entry system (5 numbers) but I dont have a keyless entry system. Can figure this one out, why would i be given a number for keyless entry system when i dont have one? I purchased the truck new and I know nothing is missing from the manual and attached papers.
any help would be appreciated.
Considering the complications you've listed, I'm at a lost to understand why you don't just listen to the advice from your mechanic and let it go off on it's own?
I just reset mine this weekend by taking the battery cable off. I didn't have to reset anything except the clock. Even the radio stations were still programmed which I was surprised to see.
Another option would be to take it to an auto parts store like Auto Zone, have them plug in their code reader and reset it for you which usually they'd do for free.
thanks to project SHO89 I was able to figure out which is the KAM fuse
the KAM fuse is fuse #5 on the fuse panel located in the cab passenger side. its a 7.5amp brown fuse. pulled it for 20 min and it eliminated the check engine light.
If you have any other fuse location questions, these can be found under the Roadside Emergencies section of your owners manual, if you don't have your owners manual you can find it here. https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp
