So I pulled the carpet out of a truck I'm working on. ITS NASTY!!!!!!!!
Anyways I've gotta get it cleaned so I can put it back in there. I've found some replacement carpet online for like $200. But I feel as though I need to try to clean it first.
Has anyone every did a major cleaning job on their carpet? If so how did it turn out and what did you use?
I've thought about taking it to the car wash and just soaking it down and spraying it with carpet cleaner and all that.
Well I pulled it all out. Drug.the carpet across the street and dumped everything into the dumpster. And shock the carpet out the best I could. There was a layer of gunk behind the back seat probably a half inch thick all the way across.

Yeah, I had one of the work mats in mine. I vacuumed out a gallon pail of dirt and mud just from my rocker pannels.
If the carpet is out, wet it down, scrub it with a carpet brush with purple power or whatever soap you want to use, then wash it with a pressure washer with the least aggressive tip you have. Prop it on a set of saw horses or something to allow it to be elevated to dry. I think more detail shops use pressure washers for upholstery cleaning than people think.
What works very well is the pressure washer at the coin op car wash.

EDT: Stacy David did it on Trucks! or Gearz and the difference was amazing. most car washes put the soap in with the pressure line so it works better than any carpet cleaner.
i use a bissel little green carpet cleaner my carpet was greasy and muddy afterwards looked like factory. the water was nasty as hell! it works!
3Xor 5 or whatever. I did mine with the "little green" and while the carpet didn't look like new it was a huge improvement. It does a good job on seats too!
Be careful with that aftermarket carpet too, lots of times it doesn't fit right. As long as you're getting it somewhere that someone else has tried it, I think you're safe, but often times these places that sell it don't do a good job making it fit and our floors are far from flat.

Thats why I recomended BroncoGraveyard.
The carpet needs to be form pressed.
You only need to cut out 4wd or shifter holes.
The rest of the carpet will fit without cutting, just tuck in the rocker panels and cover.
I cut mine up under the dash to fit around stuff, but wished I had stuffed it up another 3 or 4 inches to make it look cleaner up there.
Next time!!!
Cutting the carpet was the hardest part. The Jute back was what really made it a beotch.
And a razor blade is asking for an accident.
