I've been wanting to pull mine and clean it for a long time, it just seems to get pushed down the list. I keep coming up with too many other things to do to it. The winter list is oh so long, and the carpet is again on the bottom of it...
I have dragged the carpet out onto the concrete sidewalk before and wet it down with the garden hose... Then used OxyClean on it liberally. Worked really well.
That's what my wife wants done to the new dually, have the carpet removed and cleaned. Most of the smells I'm assuming she is smelling is coming from the carpet.
Well I soaked it down with a degreaser this morning. Ended up having to work late and didn't get home till 12 tonight. Soaked it again. Loaded it up and went to the car wash. Wow I knee it was dirty but wow its worse then I thought it was. Car wash ain't going to do it. The problem is it brakes it loose but then just soaks back in. A carpet cleaner will be the way to go. Ill day this. If you do take it to the car wash. Have someone to help you load it back up.
Today I pulled my seats and carpet and soaked it down good with purple power. Man, I couldn't believe the dirt that came out of that carpet. I had it hanging over a fence and stood that I bet an hour with the power washer. Tomorrow I will see how clean it got.
What do you guys think about sound proofing the floor. It just blocks road noise, right. If it blocked any motor noise at all I would do it.
When/if I get that far with my cc, I'm gonna dyno mat the floor, fire wall, up the back wall of the cab, the roof and inside the doors. Doing the floor won't block out all of the engine noise, but it couldn't do anything but help.
I found this place on the internet the other day, sounded pretty good to me so I think i'll order some samples just to get a better look, anyways here is the link.
Glenn when you are pulling heavy and the tranny gets hot don't you feel it through the floor? The sound deadening might help there too, it sure couldn't hurt.
I remember a few years back when I had a truck with a 460 and a c6 trans, the wife was complaining quite often about the floor being hot. So I was just curious if anyone else had that problem. (complaining wife)
