Strange noise coming from engine
I was hope you all could assist me. My engine periodically makes the noise in the following video:

It doesn't happen all of the time and it's not consistant as to when it occurs. Originally, I thought it happened when it was cold outside, but since it's been pretty cold here lately, I have not heard it. Also, it has occurred when the engine was warm (after driving for 20 min or so).
It sounds like it's coming from the engine block, but I'm not 100% sure.
Has anyone ever heard this? and if so, can you point me in the direction of getting it fixed? I have a 1996 ford explorer 6 cylinder 4.0L engine with approx 249,000 miles.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. If needed I will take a longer video of the noise, when it occurs again.
Thanks again!
Juan
Have you inspected the pulleys for loose bearings? Have you made sure the power steering fluid is at the correct level? To me the noise seems too high frequency and not muffled enough to be coming from inside the block. I think it's an accessory mounted to the engine.

I replaced the IAC a while back and it was not due to the noise. I'm not exactly sure when the noise actually started as it has been intermittent thoughout the years. The truck will go months without exhibiting the noise and then will just start up one day. Almost seems like it happens around the same time every year. I initially thought it was due to the cold weather, and in fact this year it started right around the time it started getting cold. In fact, one morning it was noticably louder. However since it started this year, it's ben much colder in the mornings and I have not heard the noise. It is such a bizarre thing, I just don't know what to do. I was wondering if anyone has heard the same thing and could say, "That's the _____. It needs to be replaced".
I'll check out the pulleys and see if I can locate anything that looks fishy.
Any other suggestions are more than welcomed

Juan
Have you ever heard the noise as soon as you turned the key to the Run position? If you get to a point where you can consistently get the noise to happen under certain conditions, try unplugging the IAC and see if the noise no longer happens.
