6.7 starting noise
We have a 2012 F350 6.7 with 5200 miles, 2200 of which are towing a 5th wheel. Recently when I first start it in the morning I get a fairly loud whirring noise coming from the area of the trans. After it warms up a bit and the engine drops to normal idle speed the noise goes away. Any Ideas?? Thanks in Advance

I get the same thing in mine and it's gas. I read somewhere it is the transmission that makes the noise. Mine only does it for a short time, a little longer in the winter. Seems to go away when it gets warm. I just think it's normal.

Thanks Monty...now that you mention it, the noise did start when we were at 6000' in 30degree weather. We are now on the beach in Oregon and it is still in the 40's in the morning. We live in Arizona and I never heard it there, so it must be the cold. Thanks again
