Crud... I forgot to mention my 60e and 80e are both mountain tunes. I have nasty hills around here and the stock shift points have a big ugly "lug" with hairy knuckles dragging on the ground. The mountain tunes bump the shift points up a few MPH to keep the RPMs above 1500 on steep grades and the engine happy.
Yup.. my HD4R100 had some "kick" to it in my first tunes - like a 300-pound linebacker stomping on a rat on the back of my theater seat. Since I spoiled myself with the F6, I worked with James at DP to get my shifts "baby-butt smooth" - as Chris put it when he took Stinky off the leash to play. My shifts don't luxuriate into gear like a Cadillac, they get there with an assertive attitude - not aggressive. I took the truck on a torture run on a 100-degree day and couldn't get the transmission over 190 degrees. My beefed-up transmission doesn't have a modified cooling system... it's just designed better than stock and the tuner treats it better than the stock tune does.
140....better get Wood or BTS on speed dial, you may need their services soon.
Tugly: My problem is that my tranny is too cold. When its over 100 my temp never sees the other side of 160 and the other day I drove 90 miles to Chula Vista with the outside temps between 58-62 at 6a.m. and I never hit 120 degrees the whole trip
I know I am a little Nurvice about the tranny too. I only have 35,000 miles on it but I guess with that much of a gain it could hurt it. I wish I could have brought my torque shift with me to this truck after I sold my 6.0. I know it would never work but imagine the 7.3 with the torque shift it would be an awesome combo. I got the tune to know it's there and occasionally play with I don't plan on beating it up. I have not had much luck with e4od's in the past and I know these trannys are pretty similar.

Dan, I can help you out, my Tru cool for your 6.0 cooler .

I missed that line the first time around. I have the same issue - my temp never pops 100 in the winter and summer sees 140-170 and that's it. Maybe I should look into a regulator that manages the fluid flow according to the temperature. My fluid still looks like something you'd pour into a Shirley Temple. It's a bear to dial the shifts when the transmission runs cold - that's one of those quirks that thwarts tune programmers from getting it right the first time.
F-5 here, and 99.9% of the time it is in 80E tune.
Same here. When Dyno'd, the 80E tune was just a hair over 80 hp inmprovement. Same with the 40 tow. those are the only tunes I got and they work fine for me. think i've put on about 80000 miles since I got them and have have no problems except the f5 switch went out. They replaced it free...
I might resort to some form of grill cover that i can snap on in the winter to keep the temps up or i might pull the fan in the winter as well. Thanks for the offer Tom but I should keep my 6.0 cooler after it took me 7 hours to put the darn thing in. Between the 6.0 and the Mag-Hytec pan, i may be too cold in the winter
