Actually, it does help. I was wanting to say the plant was KC, but wasn't sure although I knew it was there or StL or somesuch. As for DSO, it was either KC or Dallas - was there a Dallas DSO code?
Yes, Dallas is DSO Code 52.
Kansas City DSO 53 and Dallas DSO 52 were both served by the Kansas City truck plant mostly.
The DSO is only the district sales office who ordered the truck though. It does stand to reason that the Dallas or Kansas City DSO would not be ordering trucks with California emissions though.
Are you sure it wasn't a High Altitude Option? Some of these also had Feedback Carbs, O2 sensors and Computers of sorts, but it wasn't California Emissions persay. It was a way to change fuel mixture due elevation differences.
Before the law was changed, people here in California would drive to Nevada or Oregon to buy vehicles because they were cheaper. You had to pay extra for California Emissions etc...
I'd been looking for this picture, but couldn't find it on my computers or phone. But, it was too close - here on FTE in my albums. DSO code of 52. It certainly was the feedback carb, DS-III, EEC-IV. It didn't run very well when I got it, which is a huge understatement as all of the emissions stuff was disconnected - except for the computer. It wasn't happy, to say the least, and had gone into limp-home mode long, long ago.
According to that lable it was DSO Code 53: Kansas City.
As for the DS-III / EEC-III, (As the EEC-IV didn't come out untill 1984).
Yours was most likely a High Altitude model if it had a EEC-III, DS-III system.
Possibly one of these units... Would need the color of your grommet etc...
DS-III: DY-297: E1AZ-12A199-A Yellow Grommet
DS-III: DY-249: D9AZ-12A199-A Brown Grommet
etc...
Ok, my bad - EEC-III. I think I have that beast up in the attic and will look at the grommet tomorrow. Why would it be a high altitude unit at 1100' in Kansas?
I have had a Ford truck most life starting in 1978. I am now nearing retirement and I want to get back to the basics.
By basics I mean a truck that is carbureted, has no computer and essentially no sensors.
Does any one know the last year Ford was making these trucks?
No computer: 1980 and earlier (CA), 1983 and earlier otherwise.
No Never, er DuraSpark electronic ignition: 1973 and earlier.
No EGR valve: 1972 and earlier.
No Evaporative Emission System: 1969 and earlier.

Most common DuraSpark ignition module intro'd in 1976, has a blue plastic square =
