But that woulda blown the chance to make a grand on that IDI-ot....

My wife would probably have been more in the dude's face than me; it was her idea to buy the PSDs and the IDI, and has no patience for people who don't know WTF they're talking about....

I know the feeling Glenn! Theres a guy running around in town here with a 93 factory IDIT. Swears hes getting 500 dyno proven horsepower. He can varify these levels as well by his "experience" from working for Ford in the 90's....says he "knows how to make these things tick."

Race him. That should shut him up.

500 HP! LOL! Wonder what he had to stack for all that! The IDI is a solid motor but they're not well known for their power levels. Racin'n'Drummin and NMB2 have out TONS of work and research into their IDIs (think custom cam grinds, hand built headers and turbo piping, water meth injection, one off injection pumps, etc) and they're making respectable numbers, but haven't broken the 400 HP mark yet. They're getting close, but they're not there.......yet.

haha, my wife just wanted me to shut up and keep the peace. I think, looking back, one of the things that motivated me was the fact that he just went off on the water injection instead of wanting to know how and what I did to get the motor running again after being hydrolocked. I've listened to his oil rig stories for years but yet he didn't allow me to explain getting the water out of the engine. Instead he wanted to lecture me on waste gates! grrrr!!!

That's what happened to me on another forum. "I've been a mechicanic at Fords for X amount of years and this is what you do. I explained to him that I go over board on maintance and and he came back at me with the same line. I told him he wasn't a NASA engineer and he could go Fuc! himself. I haven't been back to that forum since.

I was told by a guy last month that he was going to build his IDI to 700 hp and 1500 tq. Just told him that would be impressive... He also told me his truck had 7.10 gears in it.

Ive been following their builds for quite some time now. As a matter of fact, seeing what im seeing them do and what theyve learned as far as har does and what does bot wok has made me start to get an itch to head into the IDI arena again. But i love my stroke too much and cant afford another lol. I wont say, however, that huge horsepower/torque levels are impossible to reach on an IDI due to the "Infamous IDI". No one knows how but he was beating everyone back in the day. Someday someone will do what he did and blow us away!

A 3.55 gear run with the transfer case in 4LO would actually result in the equivalent of a 7.10 gear. But I'm sure that's not what this chucklehead had in mind....
