E-350 Step Bumper....

Hope this post is in the right place!

A friend of mine has a 2000 E-350 PSD van. It has the "regular" bumper on the back, but he wants to acquire a step bumper, the one with the black plastic pad on the top. I had a Ford parts guy check on it, but he couldn't find a step bumper listed for the E-350. Has anyone out there bought a step bumper as an add-on? If so, do you remember the part number? Does the same step bumper fit the van as fits the F-350? What about an Excursion step bumper? Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!!

Mark, do you think you could get me the part number that stamped in your bumper? That would help me a lot.........

I could, but it won't help. Ford does not stamp part numbers that you can use. IF there is a number it is an engineering number that the dealer won't recognize.

E-350 Step Bumper....

I'll admit that my knowledge isn't all that great, but I'm fairly sure that Ford has put a part number on every part of every vehicle since the 1940s. Part numbers starting with A were 1940s, B-1950s, C-1960s, D-1970s, and so on, and so on. Any Ford dealer who could not cross reference one of these parts numbers, especially the newer ones, would no longer receive any of my patronage.

With that said, here's what I have been able to determine: I crawled up under the rear end of my SD and found my bumper part numbers. They are as follows:

Chrome step bumper - F81Z-17906-BB

Driver's side black plastic step pad - F81B-17D781-ADW

Passenger's side black plastic pad - F81B-17D782-ADW

Center black plastic piece - XL34-17B810-AAW

(BTW, the "F8" prefix indicates 1998 origin - not sure about that "XL" though )

The bumper part number was on a sticker located on the backside of the chrome part of the bumper, on the passenger's side. The P/Ns for the black plastic parts were stamped in the underside of left and right pads, and on the back of the rolled-down part of the center pad. It was real hard to see the number on that center pad. Anyways, I was able to find them on my F-350 bumper. What I really need to know is - Does the E-350 have the same bumper? If it is different, I sure would like to know the part number. Any help will be, as always, greatly appreciated.........

FDF250, I checked out that website and found the bumper you mentioned. I noticed the chrome bumper was about $45 cheaper than the other one. From the drawings they had on there describing the different bumper components, I'd venture to guess that the E-350 bumper is different from the F-350 bumper.

Thanks for the heads-up..........
