Blown Tranny
My Dad's 97 250HD with Powerstroke blew out the tranny this morning! Totally gone! He is at the dealer right now (stuck out of town of course). They want $4k to fix it. He is negotiating a new one.
He was not pulling with it at the time, and although he pulls a 5th wheel on occassion, he doesn't pull very often.
I don't usually post or read threads in this forum because I'm a Ranger guy myself, but this seems unusual doesn't it?
Just for reference, I think he has about 75k on it.
Thoughts, comments, similar experiences?

That sounds mighty high, last time at the dealer, I talked with him, just in general conversation, about cost to rebuild the auto in my 99 F250....since I had put 4 trannys in my previous cheby. He said it runs typically about 2500.
How far a tow to a dealer you know/trust? Or any other dealer....that may sound like the reaming of an out of town breakdown.

Get the truck out of the dealer ASAP! Buy a tranny form Brian. www.brianstruckshop.com It will be the last tranny he'll ever buy.
