Hey peeps...I'm a newbie from KC MO, I've been looking for a site like this for a while now and just happened to stumble apon this place....Great site!!

My name is Darrell, I have a 79 F250, 460ci, 2wd, BW t-18, 9"R.E.
with an 8' stepside.

I bought the truck a year ago for $600. I found it out in the Ozarks...The guy who sold it to me said it was on it's last leg......Here it is a year late....and I still drive it everyday.

It's definately had it's share of little problems...Tons of em' but I'm working on that.

I've replaced most of the elec. system. the valve cover gaskets, hubs, brakes, brake lines, clutch, U'joint. Shifter pin, belts, hoses, and I've still got to get the new W.pump on.

Most of the dash doesn't work; all I have is the turn signal indicators, and the dash lights, no guages...they are there, but have never worked. I've relied on luck the last year, and have not gotten a speeding ticket yet.

Whoever had this truck before me really went through it with Hill-billie love...Everything was rigged some way or another. Never taken good care of.

It rattles like no other, but she'll move like a banshee (sp)

So Now I'm on the path to restore it and hopefully race it as well.
I know, I know...You aren't supposed to race a "work" truck, but that's exactly why I do it.

I hope some of you people might be able to help me in my search for new parts, genuine ideas, Engine Build up tips, ect.

Sorry for the long post....
Pics if you want them

Thank you

I used to have a 75 F150 ranger 2wd, that I had restored..It was my first vehicle, and biggest mistake.......I sold it for a back seat.

I got it when I was 13 and sold it shortly after turning 16.

I found this one and decided I better grab it cuz I don't know when I'll find another 75 in the shape mine was in.

Also this 79 was made the same month/year I was born....HEHEHE...I thought that was a weird coincidence.....

Let's just put it this way....Before I found this 79, I had been driving a 99 ZX2. I spent about 2 years learning, and modding...I improved the car from a stock 18.5@75+ to a 15.812@89mph. I loved this thing.

I found this truck and guess what.....The car is gone....and I have yet to touch my 87?? Pulsar. I guess the Big Block bit me in the ***....Now I have the disease...the need to go faster, make it bigger, louder, meaner.

The truck is not much to look at in it's present shape...But I'm proud of her, and will put it up in any race..Especially ricers

Right now I'm focusing on the steering, and suspension. I'm looking at a 10" drop AirOverSpring Susp. setup.

Hopefully by the end of the summer I'll have a 1 piece FG GT500 front end...I'm really shootin' for it....Like I said I've got TONS to do...

Thanks for the welcome

yo,
Good luck! We had a 78 Bronco Ranger till we made a big mistake and sold it 2 yrs ago. We were good to it and kept everything maintained and working. I believe the only thing that the buyer asked about was the fan switch; a prev. potential buyer took it for a test drive and swiped all of the little black plastic switch/lever covers.

I used to have an 89 Eddie Baurer, and a 96 XLT. My XLT had 32" tires, Rancho susp., KC lights across the top....Blacked out windows, no spare rack. Looked real smooth, unfortunately it had tons of problems........

If anyone has any good restoration tips/pointers, or good places to find body panels and such let me know.....

I'm having a terrible time finding replacement panels for my 8' Stepside.
