I changed over to an HEI setup quite a while back and not knowing that there was an alternative, I just used regular female / spade tip connectors soldered and shrink wrapped of course for the two wires, 12v/tach. I wasn't real happy the two times my truck died simply because the connector came loose. It took me all of two minutes to shoot the trouble and get back on my way but it was a nuisance none the less. OK day b4 yesterday I was surfing the net trying to find a part for a fellow FTE member and came across pigtails specificly made to fit and "LOCK" on to HEI caps. They come in dual (shown below) or indevidualy for pos or tach if you like. Needless to say I clicked on Summits site and got the dual one. Wow it came today and I installed it and Ill never get inconvienced by a loose conector again. I guess Im easily amused, but I think its the best thing since sliced bread. LOL If anyone else with a HEI has the same problem, this was a good fix. P.S. My HEI is from Proform, but arnt they all the same?
Good catch, Jim! Not knowing about that terminal doesn't make you a dummy, fixing it right makes you smart. Little things like that make a big difference in reliability.
Very cool!
Its always good to have the right connectors. Being an old GM tech, I used to have a box full of pigtails. The two that are most often needed seem to be the one you're talking about for the distributor and the 2 wire plug for the alternators.
