The best batteries I've ever had are the Die Hard Platinums. But they were spendy. Is your truck out of warranty already? If not I'd get some freebies from Ford.
Both of mine have been leaking for over a year.
Nothing bad such as acid everywhere but you can see the dust has been disturbed around the cells for 1-2 inches.
My dealer told me there was no way they would be able to get FoMoCo to sign off on two new ones.
I had my truck get its 30k service yesterday, its 2 1/2 years old and I asked the service advisor about the drivers side battery that was leaking enough to corrode the bracket. Ford wouldn't replace the batteries because the batteries are fine they just leak a little bit during charging. I popped off the bracket and cleaned it up and painted it.
The truck is only 1 1/2 years old but I've put on 137,000 km (85,000 mi) so the warranty is gone. I brought it up with them anyway and they just tried to sell me some Ford batteries, I think I'll look at something else, I see 1st hand how long those last.
The brackets are corroded already so that's a good idea to clean them up and repaint.
Thanks for the ideas, I'll look into the Die Hards.
The batteries are probably not actually leaking. Just about every Powerstroke that I have come in contact with boils at least one of the batteries over during charging. New batteries unless they are AGM will not fix the problem permanently. I periodically clean the batteries with baking soda and then spray Fluid-Film on anything metal in the area to prevent corrosion.
I put odyssey 65-PC1750T's in mine. A lot to do with the sterio but also because winter is coming up. Only had them a couple of months but they come highly recommended. Pricey tho.......

Now theres some real batts right there. Pricey don't really fit that bill. But well worth it.
Costco Ford diesel batteries are 1000 amp, maintenance free and cost around $180.00 for two in Washington State. I had them in my 2001 and also in my tractor and they worked out well. It doesn't get nearly as cold here as in Montana and Canada.
