The power moon roof is very very nice, it really opens up the cab.
The reason that I got the V-10 over the Diesel was the major difference in price and the reliability of the new 6.0. When I first started looking, my plan was to get a diesel. I borrowed my Bro-in-laws 7.3 and loved the power but hated the noise and smell. He also complained a lot about maintanence, etc. Then the 6.0 was introduced. Drove it and loved everything about it. At the 11th hour, my sales guy said he wouldn't sell me one. Waaay to many problems. I have been dealing with this guy for over 10 years and really trust him (I guess that is why I have been a customer for so long). I also checked with my cousin who works for Roush racing. He said to wait a few years as well. He thinks that the 6.0 is a fantastic engine, but still a lot of bugs need to be worked out. The biggest difference was price. My truck was about $7300 less (including $3300 in rebates (all A'plan pricing)) than the exact same vehicle with the 6.0. That is a ton of gas over the next several years.
I recently bought a new f350, crew cab, 4X4, V10, long bed, and in an XL package. I use it as a tool so I like it basic. I traded in a 2000 f150, V6 and 5 speed.
I work for International and I am aware of the 6.0 liter diesel issues. The EGR problem is most prevailiant issue. I am not going to bash the 6.0 liter but I much prefer the V10 - this is only a matter of preference.
I have read your posts and perhaps I can contribute.
I also have a 1970 F100 and a 1976 F150 Trailering Special.
Took the truck out for the holiday weekend and put hundreds of miles on it. The ride is incredible. My gas mileage averaged 13. I am thrilled. I met my buddy with his F250 V-8 and he only got 12. No biggy, I didn't buy it for the mileage but it doesn't feel any different at the pump than my Expy.
