I am looking to put a Butt Seam (V-Seam) windshield in my '42 Panel. Is there some place I can buy a one-piece rubber seal? I've found several places that sell the original two-piece types.
This thing leaks water like crazy when it's raining.
V-butt windshields are typically glued in place with windshield urethane, like a modern car. No gasket is necessary. The reveal is covered with a plastic T moulding that's set in place with the urethane when the glass is installed. Many times there's some light fabrication necessary around the glass opening for it to all fit like it should. Check with a local glass shop for assistance, if necessary.
From what I've seen, the V-butt does use a seal, it's just a one piece, no center section. I found one a while back, let me run look. Here we go, Dennis Carpenter. Last 2 bottom of page 1 say V-butt.
Found it, bought it. Thanks again, I swear I looked on that website a week or so ago and didn't find it. Must not have scrolled down far enough. Call it short attention span
No problem! I'm pretty interested in doing a V-butt in my 47 as well, so I've looked around some. I'd also like to do door glass without the frame attached around the glass, like a 41(I think). If I'm not mistaken on the year, some people have told me to install the 41 door glass runs and 41 door glass, and it fits perfectly, with no frame.
Got my windshield in, it looks great. The original glass was pretty pitted with age so this is like driving in High Def!
BTW BigF350, my glass guy told me the frames around the side glass are there to help protect from breaking. As hard as it is to close my drivers door, I believe him

I hear ya, but the 40-41's didn't have it, so I wonder if it's really necessary? My doors seem to shut easy anyway. I just think it'd look better. From what I understand, the doors on those earlier ones are the same, except for that.
Pics please ; ) I'm planning on going with a once piece windshield. Has anyone else gone that route? I found a few places that custom makes the one piece tinted.
