Thought I'd tell you about my windshield installation. New glass (green tint), new window seal (Carpenters) and some cleaned stainless trim. Firstly I had the glass shipped from California and found out later that I could have had it shipped free from Salt Lake. Tip here is check with your local windshield installer. Two person job. Layed the glass on a stand face down and installed the new seal. Used duct tape to hold it in place. Then flipped it over and carefully installed the stainless. The connector clips were installed with the stainless. More duct tape. Install a heavy cord in the seal slot with overlap at the bottom. Spray the seal with aluma lube. Then we set the assembled and lubed windshield in place. One guy pushes from the outside the other guy inside slowly pulls the cord out and installs the seal lip over the windshield flange on the truck. The hardest part was installing the trim in the gasket, getting it even and getting the connector clips installed. The installer (I helped) used a product called aluma-lube not soap. Amazing stuff. Final bill 195 for the glass 30 bucks or so for the seal, 200 for shipping and 90 bucks for the installer and he did such a good job I tipped him 20 bucks.
You cannot install the 'trim' after the fact. The Custom Cab stainless steel windshield reveal mouldings fit into a groove in the weatherstrip, then the whole enchilada is installed as a 'one piece' assembly.
There are two different windshield weatherstrips:
C1TB-8103110-B .. Windshield Weatherstrip-Has a groove in it for the Custom Cab stainless steel windshield reveal mouldings.
There are three different windshields: Clear, tinted and in the 1970's, a sun band windshield became available. NAGS # W602 ~ Specify: clear or tinted or sun band.
The sun band w/shield has extra tint across the top, won't affect either you or Dave. But if peeps are over 6' tall, attempting to look thru that extra tint at night could be hazardous to your health!
I found this out when I installed one a these puppies in 1983. You can order glass from any autoglass shop, there is no shipping charge from the NAGS warehouse to the shop.
Trim on before installation. I was going to do the clips after but the Installer put them on before. This was a fairly straight forward deal. He had some handy tools like a vacuum handle that stuck to the glass and made holding and moving it easier. Also a plastic tool for encouraging the gasket back on the glass after it popped off several times. Duct tape really helps. The surprise was that aluma-lube. That stuff is amazing.
