Glow Plug Voltage?
After I paid the bill and went out to start the truck, it didn't start any better than before. I went back in to complain and they said it will take a while to clean all of the grease off??? It's been over a week and the starting is just as bad as before I took it.
Could it be low compression? I'm considering buying a compression guage and check it. What should the compression be? Another question, if I were to buy a banks sidewinder turbo and add it to this engine, would that help it start easier?
Antiseize contains small metal particles and should conduct electricity (actually haven't tested it... hmmm need to try that sometime). However, the antiseize will be all squeezed out between the threads when installing and metal to metal contact from the glow plug to the head will occur. Again the antiseize will only help by preventing corrosion in the connection. It will also lubricate the threads and all a tighter connection.
Now did you put anything on the tip of the glow plug? That might cause a bit of a problem until it burns off.... but shouldn't take too long to burn off (unless it leaves a layer of burnt crap on the tip).
Turbo will make no difference in starting. Its not turning fast enough to do anything while the engine is cranking. It will help performance while running, but again, nothing for starting.
Compression could be an issue. Be careful though, you'll need a diesel compression gauge which are more expensive than gasser ones. I can't remember the beginning of the thread, but are your batteries, battery cables, and starter in good condition?
