Hi
I have a 94 f250 with a 5.9 FI. It started idle ing very high all the time so I took off the throttle body, cleaned it really well and replaced the TPS. Now the idle runs very low. It doesn't stall but it seems it is too low. Also, it doesn't, idle high then drop down like it used to. Any ideas? Thanks for any and all help in advance.
Hi
Thanks for the reply. I checked it and it was connected but when I disconnected it it made no difference. Could that be bad?
Yes it could, but it seems odd the problem occurred after you removed the throttle body. Verify it has 12 Volts running to it with the engine running. It may be there with the Key On/Engine Off but I am not 100% certain. Maybe you have a broken wire?
You could test it with a 9V battery. Momentarily touch the leads with the battery to see if it actuates. Do not hold it there very long. If the plunger does not move then you have a problem with the IAC itself, otherwise you have a wiring problem leading to it.
